Densmore Scores Twice, But Marina Outmatched by Saint Joseph, Score 41-12 (2025)

Lakewood – Jesters Field (SJHS)

Marina found themselves in a tough spot early against Saint Joseph on Monday, as turnovers and missed tackles dug a deep hole they couldn’t climb out of in a 42-14 loss on the road.

The Jesters controlled the tempo from the start, scoring on a 40-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter while Marina’s opening two possessions ended in interceptions. Despite the turnovers, the Viking defense came up with a few crucial fourth-down stops to keep the game from getting out of hand.

The second quarter, however, saw Saint Joseph pull away. Their defense pinned Marina deep and forced a safety, then capitalized on another interception to extend the lead to 22-0 at halftime. The Jesters struck twice more in the third, breaking tackles on a 50-yard touchdown run and later adding a deep 40-yard scoring pass to make it 35-0.

Marina finally found momentum in the fourth quarter. Jolie Densmore picked off a pass and returned it for a touchdown, giving the Vikings their first points of the game. Matilda Nguyen then helped flip field position with back-to-back receptions that pushed Marina deep into Saint Joseph territory. A few plays later, quarterback Delilah Meza connected with Densmore on a 25-yard scoring strike, with Rylee Bradley and Emma Prelle each converting extra points to bring the final to 42-14.

Despite the result, several Vikings had strong performances. Meza finished with 165 passing yards and one touchdown, spreading the ball to multiple receivers. Densmore led the way with seven receptions for 63 yards and both Marina touchdowns. Bradley added 32 yards receiving and an extra point, while Prelle chipped in 14 yards and an extra point. On defense, Bradley led the team with six tackles, while Alice Sheldon had four and Densmore contributed two plus the pick-six.

The Vikings showed fight late, but Saint Joseph’s attack and Marina’s early miscues proved too much to overcome.
