Scott’s 12-Point Third Quarter Pushes Corona del Mar Past Marina (77-54)

Maxwell Scott dropped 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting, and Ryan Mansouri added 19 more on a scorching 5-of-7 night from three — Corona del Mar handled Marina 77-51 and it wasn’t particularly close after the opening tip.

The Sea Kings came out focused. Mansouri hit three threes in the first quarter alone, giving CdM an early 16-6 edge. Oliver Nakra picked up the slack in the second, pouring in 11 of his 14 points in that quarter on 4-of-5 shooting with three threes. Luke Mirhashemi ran the offense smoothly in the first half, racking up four assists without a turnover while Scott began finding his rhythm. CdM carried a 40-25 lead into halftime.

Scott took over in the third. He scored 12 of his 22 points in that quarter, going 5-of-6 from the floor, as the Sea Kings outscored Marina 26-12 to push the lead to a comfortable margin. Nakra added another three in the third, finishing the night 4-of-5 from deep. With the outcome settled, the bench got extended run in the fourth — Deven Hewett and Hudson Wagner each chipped in baskets — while Marina outscored CdM 17-11 in the final frame.

Mansouri’s 5-of-7 shooting from three was the sharpest individual shooting performance of the night, and Scott’s 12-point third quarter was the moment that made the final margin of 26 feel inevitable.
