Edison Comes Close But Can’t Finish Against Pinnacle, 28-32
Edison came up just short on the road Friday, falling 32-28 to Pinnacel in a tightly contested nonleague battle. While a loss is never the goal, it’s a respectable showing for the Chargers against a Pinnacel program that entered the game ranked sixth in Arizona’s MaxPreps rankings, compared to Edison’s 41st spot in California.
Pinnacle’s offense was the difference-maker, led by quarterback Grayson Bull, who threw for 242 yards and three touchdowns while also punching in a rushing score of his own. Receiver Terik Slaughter was his top target, hauling in 138 receiving yards and a touchdown. Edison’s defense kept the game within reach throughout, but couldn’t quite find the stop needed to flip momentum late.
The result drops Edison to 1-1 on the season. The Chargers have now gone 3-2 since snapping a three-game losing streak that dated back to last season, a sign of steady progress even with Friday’s setback against a nationally respected opponent.
Edison will look to bounce back at home Thursday at 7 p.m., hosting Corona del Mar in a Sunset League matchup in front of its home crowd.
