Serra Rallies Past Los Alamitos in Second-Half Comeback, 34-23
Los Alamitos controlled the first half behind the connection of quarterback Elijah McDaniel and Leo Swietlikowski, taking an 11-point lead into the locker room. But the third and fourth quarters belonged entirely to Serra, which racked up 434 total yards of offense and pulled off a comeback win, 34-23.
Serra’s rally picked up steam when reserve running back James Robinson scored on a 4-yard touchdown run with 11:56 left in the fourth quarter, giving the Cavaliers their first lead of the night at 20-17. Defensive lineman Pauliasi “PJ” Faaoso was instrumental up front, holding Los Alamitos’ high-powered offense to just six points in the entire second half. A.J. McBean put the game away for good, scoring his third touchdown of the half with 1:32 remaining to seal the 34-23 win.
The result moves Serra to 2-1 on the season, while Los Alamitos drops to a difficult 0-3 start.
