Big Plays Keep Vikings Close Before CdM Secures Win, Score 22-12 (2025)

Marina and Corona del Mar squared off in an exciting defensive battle on Wednesday night, with both teams trading big stops before CdM pulled away late to secure a 22-12 win.

The first half was all about defense. Marina’s front line pressured the quarterback and shut down the run, while the secondary made key plays to keep CdM off the board. Alice Sheldon intercepted a pass at the goal line in the first quarter, and Sofia Naylonnavarette added another interception near the end zone in the second. The Vikings also forced a turnover on downs in the final minute of the half to keep the score 0-0 at halftime.

CdM broke through in the third quarter with two touchdowns, but Marina responded. Quarterback Delilah Meza hit Rylee Bradley on a 40-yard bomb to set up a 5-yard touchdown pass to Bradley, trimming the deficit to 14-6 heading into the fourth.

In the final quarter, CdM stretched the lead to 20-6 before Bradley answered again, this time hauling in a 54-yard touchdown catch to keep Marina within striking distance. The Vikings got one last chance to mount a comeback, but Meza was sacked in the end zone for a safety, sealing the 22-12 final.

Bradley had a standout game on both sides of the ball, recording five catches for 112 yards and two touchdowns, along with eight tackles and two pass breakups on defense. Sheldon and Naylonnavarette added interceptions, while Matilda Nguyen piled up nine tackles and a pass defended.

Meza finished with 141 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, though the running game was stifled, with all six rushing attempts resulting in negative yardage.

Despite the loss, Marina’s defense showed toughness and playmaking ability, and Bradley’s performance gave the Vikings momentum to build on as they move forward in Sunset League play.
