Corona del Mar Falls to Lake Washington in Double Overtime Despite Scott’s 29 and Nakra’s 27 (82-87)

Corona del Mar had Lake Washington on the ropes entering the second overtime — and couldn’t hold on. The Sea Kings fell 87-82 in double overtime, with Maxwell Scott (29 points) and Oliver Nakra (27) carrying the offense all night but a brutal second overtime undid everything they had built.

Corona del Mar controlled the opening quarter, outscoring Lake Washington by four to take an early lead. The second quarter told a different story. The offense went cold — CdM managed just eight points in the period as Lake Washington flipped the margin and led by two at the half. Scott poured in 14 of his 29 in the first half, but the rest of the lineup couldn’t sustain the pace, and the Sea Kings headed to the locker room slightly behind.

Nakra took over in the second half. He put up 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field in the third and fourth quarters, including 13 in the fourth to help CdM outscore Lake Washington by seven in that period and force overtime. The first overtime ended knotted at 12 apiece. In the second extra session, Lake Washington outscored Corona del Mar by five — and that was the game. Luke Mirhashemi had a chance to be a factor but turned it over twice in OT2 without scoring, and the Sea Kings couldn’t find the shot they needed. Nakra hit 5 of 8 from three on the night; Scott added seven rebounds and seven assists to his 29-point line.

Nakra’s 27 points and Scott’s 29 — on seven assists — gave CdM two legitimate offensive engines. It still wasn’t enough: a minus-five second overtime is where the game was lost.
