El Dorado Controls Game, Hands Marina Tough Loss (2025)
El Dorado showed off a balanced mix of passing and running plays on Wednesday night, handing Marina a 25-0 loss. The Golden Hawks struck once in each quarter, steadily building their lead while keeping Marina’s offense in check.
Marina had trouble against El Dorado’s quick passing game and speed on the ground, and turnovers proved costly. The Vikings threw three interceptions on the night, including one that gave El Dorado the ball at the Marina 14-yard line, which they quickly converted into points.
Despite the struggles, Marina did have some bright spots. Quarterback Delilah Meza threw for 100 yards and added a few runs of her own, including a one-yard carry that moved the chains. Her top target was Jolie Densmore, who hauled in four catches for 43 yards, highlighted by a 15-yard gain. Densmore also handled punting duties, averaging nearly 38 yards per kick with a long boot close to 60 yards.
Defensively, Marina was active across the board, piling up 26 tackles, three sacks, and four pass breakups. Alice led the pressure up front with two sacks, while Hannah Meyer added another. Matilda Nguyen turned in a strong two-way game with five tackles and three passes defended, along with a pair of punt returns for 20 yards.
The Vikings also welcomed back several players to the lineup, including Hannah Meyer, Skyla Chaffins, Elliot Patterson, and Dani Felix, who all contributed in their return.
In the end, Marina’s offense couldn’t quite find its rhythm, but the defense continued to show fight throughout the game.
Marina will travel to face Woodrow Wilson on the road Monday, August 18.
