Guyser Throws Five TDs as Newport Harbor Shuts Out Fountain Valley, Score 39-0 (2025)

Newport Harbor wasted no time making a statement Monday afternoon, rolling to a 39-0 road victory over Fountain Valley behind a career day from quarterback Scarlett Guyser and a relentless defense.

On just the second play of the game, Guyser connected with Skylie Cid on a 45-yard touchdown, setting the tone for the Sailors’ explosive first half. She followed with a 5-yard strike to Ashlyn Spicer, and then opened the second quarter with a 10-yard rushing touchdown by Aliyah Chappell. Harbor kept piling on in the second quarter, as Guyser hit Cid again for another long score, before delivering back-to-back touchdown passes to Blakely Irvine from 30 and 10 yards out. By halftime, the Sailors had all 39 of their points on the board.

Guyser was outstanding, throwing for 209 yards and five touchdowns, while also adding three point-after passes. Cid was her top target, finishing with 118 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Irvine added two scores and 57 yards receiving. Spicer followed that up with a touchdown of her own.

The defense was just as dominant, holding the Barons scoreless and racking up seven sacks. Keeton and Cid combined for five of them, consistently collapsing the pocket and giving Fountain Valley little room to operate.

The win improved Newport Harbor’s record to 15-1, as the Sailors extended their win streak over Fountain Valley to five games. For the Barons, the loss dropped them to 5-9 on the season.

Newport Harbor hits the road to face league rival Marina on Wednesday, September 17, while Fountain Valley will drive down to square off against league rival Huntington Beach on the same night.
