Guyser Throws for Six Touchdowns as Newport Harbor Rolls Past Fountain Valley, Score 52-6 (2025)

Newport Beach – Davidson Field (NHHS)

Newport Harbor’s offense was firing on all cylinders Wednesday night, overpowering Fountain Valley 52–6 at Davidson Field in one of their most complete performances of the season. After a brief early deficit, the Sailors’ offense exploded behind quarterback Scarlett Guyser, while the defense and special teams dominated the rest of the way.

Fountain Valley struck first with a quick touchdown on its opening drive, taking a 6–0 lead midway through the first quarter. That would be their only score of the night. From there, Guyser and the Sailors took over. The sophomore quarterback immediately answered with a touchdown pass to Skylie Cid, then added a rushing score of her own just before the end of the quarter, connecting with Blakely Irvine for the extra-point conversion to make it 13–6.

Newport Harbor’s second quarter was all offense and momentum. Guyser kept the ball on a short run for her second rushing touchdown, then followed it with a deep strike to Cid for another score, hitting Ella Woods for the PAT. The Sailors continued to spread the ball around as Guyser delivered another touchdown pass to Irvine, extending the lead further. Cid then added to her already stellar night on defense, picking off a pass and returning it for a touchdown. Guyser again connected with Irvine for the conversion, giving Newport Harbor a commanding 39–6 lead at halftime.

The Sailors didn’t let up in the second half. Guyser found Irvine once again in the third quarter, this time for a short touchdown pass, followed by a PAT toss to Jocelyn DeTemple. In the fourth, quarterback Ally Shaw capped off the night with a seven-yard touchdown pass to Ashlyn Spicer, sealing the 52–6 final.

Guyser finished with 169 passing yards, four touchdowns, and 99 rushing yards with two more scores, while Cid totaled three touchdowns—two receiving and one on defense. Irvine added two receiving touchdowns and two extra-point catches, with Woods and DeTemple also converting PATs.

The win improved Newport Harbor to 21–2 overall and kept the Sailors second, just under Huntington Beach in league play, while Fountain Valley fell to 7–15.
