Guyser’s Five-TD Performance Against Marina Leads Newport Harbor to League Title Share, Score 45-6 (2025)

Newport Beach – Davidson Field (NHHS)

On senior night at Davidson Field, Newport Harbor capped its regular season with a commanding 45-6 victory over Marina, clinching a share of the Sunset League championship.

The Sailors (22-2) set the tone early behind the steady leadership of sophomore quarterback Scarlett Guyser, who accounted for five total touchdowns, while completing 76.5% of her throws for 146 yards and adding 65 yards on the ground.

Guyser spread the ball around to her seniors, ensuring a memorable night for the group of Cooper Dick, Ella Woods, and Lily Ure, who each caught touchdown passes. She also connected with Skylie Cid, Ashlyn Spicer, and Aliyah Chappell on scoring plays, highlighting Newport’s depth and offensive precision.

Newport Harbor jumped out to a 20-0 first-quarter lead, with Guyser tossing three touchdowns in the opening six minutes. Her 21-yard strike to Cid opened the scoring, followed by an 8-yard toss to Spicer and a 35-yard deep ball to Chappell.

In the second quarter, Guyser hit Woods on a 5-yard touchdown and later added a 1-yard dump off to Lily Ure to make it 33-0 at halftime. Marina got on the board midway through the third quarter when they connected on a touchdown pass, though the PAT attempt was no good.

Opening the fourth quarter, Ally Shaw got in on the action, throwing a 16-yard touchdown pass to Dick to push the lead to 45-6.

The Sailors’ defense matched the offense’s dominance. Presley Keeton led the unit with six flag pulls, a pass breakup, and two punt returns, while Jocelyn DeTemple sealed the win with a 60-yard interception return for a touchdown as time expired.

With the win, Newport Harbor secured a share of the Sunset League title for the second straight season, with Huntington Beach, and enters postseason play with powerful momentum — having now won 11 games this year by 20 points or more.
