Ibarra’s Four-TD Explosion Over San Juan Hills Sends Los Alamitos to Division 2 Semifinals, Score 35-10 (2025)

Long Beach – Veterans Stadium (LAHS)

Los Alamitos showed exactly why they’ve evolved into a true postseason threat, dominating San Juan Hills 35–10 in Friday night’s CIF-SS Division 2 quarterfinal at rainy Veterans Stadium. Behind a punishing ground attack and a statement performance from senior running back Lenny Ibarra, the Griffins (10–2) punched their ticket to the semifinals for the second straight year and extended their best postseason run since 2002.

From the opening whistle, Los Alamitos set the tone physically. The Griffins marched 90 yards on 10 plays on their first possession, capped by Ibarra taking a direct snap and powering through the left side for a 7-yard touchdown. It was the first of four touchdowns on the night for the senior, who proved once again why he’s one of the county’s elite two-way players.

San Juan Hills momentarily halted the momentum with a 34-yard field goal, but Los Alamitos immediately countered—and then kept pouring it on. Ibarra broke loose around the right side and flashed elite acceleration on a 21-yard touchdown run, extending the lead to 14–3 midway through the second quarter.

The special teams unit delivered the next big blow. On the ensuing kickoff, Koa Marasco jumped on a Stallions fumble at the 34-yard line. One play later, Ibarra sprinted through contact, stayed upright after being hit twice, and lunged into the end zone for a 22-yard score, giving the Griffins a commanding 21–3 halftime lead.

Los Alamitos kept its foot down after the break. Quarterback Colin Creason, efficient all night, pulled the ball on a read and burst up the middle for a 23-yard touchdown run that made it 28–3 early in the third quarter. For an offense that didn’t need to throw much due to the rain, Creason still completed 11 of 14 passes and managed the game flawlessly.

San Juan Hills briefly cut the deficit on a 6-yard run by Elijah Ayala, but the Griffins had the answer yet again—this time with Ibarra’s fourth touchdown, a blazing 38-yard run showcasing his breakaway speed.

By the end of the night, Los Alamitos had piled up 260 rushing yards, their best total of the season. Ibarra finished with 116 rushing yards on 13 carries, 33 receiving yards, and four touchdowns, while Kamden Tillis added 112 yards on 17 carries in a strong complementary performance.

Defensively, Los Alamitos played disciplined football. The Griffins allowed just one offensive touchdown and forced multiple critical mistakes by San Juan Hills, who entered averaging 37 points per game. Senior quarterback Timmy Herr threw for 271 yards but saw the Stallions’ offense stall repeatedly in Griffin territory.

The win sends Los Alamitos into a semifinal showdown at Murrieta Valley—a rematch of last year’s playoff clash. With Ibarra in postseason form, the offensive line dominating, and the defense surging, the Griffins enter the Division 2 final four playing their best football of the year.
