Maxwell Scott dropped 35 points on 7-of-11 shooting from three in a one-point win over Los Alamitos, and Corona del Mar needed every single one of them. The Sea Kings escaped with a 78-77 final, flipping a five-point halftime deficit with a 26-20 third quarter that put them in front for good.

Los Alamitos set the tone early, outscoring CdM 23-20 in the first quarter and stretching it to a five-point halftime edge. Scott kept it from getting worse — he had 17 of his 35 in the first half, including three from deep on five attempts, but Oliver Nakra was the other engine in that stretch with 10 first-half points on 4-of-7 shooting.

The third quarter was the game’s pivot. Scott hit three consecutive threes at one point, finishing the period 3-of-3 from deep with 13 points, and CdM outscored Los Alamitos by six to flip the lead. Luke Mirhashemi settled in as a distributor down the stretch — he had 9 second-half points and 4 assists after halftime, including a steady fourth quarter with 5 points and 3 assists. Nolan Scott chipped in a perfect 2-of-2 from the field in the fourth, converting at critical moments as Los Alamitos pushed back to make it a tied fourth quarter at 17-17. The Sea Kings held on by a single point.

Nakra finished with 19, Mirhashemi added 11 on 6 assists, and Scott’s 4 steals gave CdM a plus edge in the turnover battle that mattered most in a one-possession finish.
