Maxwell Scott’s Double-Double Fuels Corona del Mar’s First-Half Surge Against Huntington Beach (73-45)

Maxwell Scott put up a double-double and Ryan Mansouri went a perfect 5-for-5 from the field as Corona del Mar handled Huntington Beach, 73–45. The Sea Kings set the tone early and never let the Oilers get comfortable.

CdM came out sharp from the opening tip, outscoring Huntington Beach 24–11 in the first quarter. Scott was the engine — he finished with 24 points on 10-of-16 shooting to go with 10 rebounds — and Luke Mirhashemi ran the offense efficiently, distributing to set up early buckets. The Sea Kings carried a 35–18 advantage into the half after a tighter second quarter, where both teams scored in single digits.

The second half was more of the same. Corona del Mar pushed the lead back out in the third, outscoring Huntington Beach 21–11, with Mansouri’s efficiency standing out — he finished 2-for-2 from three and didn’t miss a shot all night. Myles Waite chipped in seven points on 3-of-5 shooting, and Caden Sanchez added six on two-for-two from three. Mirhashemi finished with 10 assists to pair with Scott’s double-double, giving CdM two players with standout all-around games. Oliver Nakra contributed eight points and a block, and Landon Rucker grabbed four rebounds and came away with two steals.

Mirhashemi’s 10 assists were the quiet backbone of the win — Corona del Mar shot 29-for-57 from the field as a team, a product of good ball movement all night.
