Nguyen’s Late Pick Seals Marina’s 14-6 Tournament Victory Over Rancho Buena Vista, Score 14-6 (2025)

At the UCLA flag football tournament on Saturday, Marina edged Rancho Buena Vista 14-6 in a fast-paced matchup played under shortened 12-minute halves. Despite the condensed format, the game delivered plenty of drama with both teams pushing for the win until the final whistle.

Rancho Buena Vista struck first after capitalizing on a Marina turnover. An early interception set the Longhorns up with strong field position, and they quickly turned it into a touchdown. The extra point attempt failed, keeping the score 6-0. Marina responded immediately, as quarterback Delilah Meza connected with Rylee Bradley on a 25-yard strike for a touchdown. Lola Bradbury hauled in the conversion to give Marina a 7-6 lead after the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Marina’s defense stepped up with key stops, including a momentum-shifting sack. Meza went back to Bradley for the duo’s second scoring connection of the day, this time a 44-yard bomb. Emma Prelle added the extra point to push the Vikings’ lead to 14-6.

Rancho Buena Vista nearly forced overtime with a late drive inside the 5-yard line, but Marina’s Matilda Nguyen sealed the game with a clutch interception at the goal line. The Vikings then ran out the clock to secure the win.

Bradley led the offense with 79 receiving yards, two touchdowns, and four tackles on defense. Meza finished with 106 passing yards, two scores, and one interception. On defense, Hannah Meyer anchored the front with four tackles and a sack, while Nguyen’s late interception was the play of the game.

With the victory, Marina moved to 14-6 overall in a tightly contested matchup that showcased their resilience on both sides of the ball.
