Scott’s 17 and Nakra’s 16 Lift Corona del Mar Past Huntington Beach (61-51)

Maxwell Scott dropped 17 points on 7-of-14 shooting and Oliver Nakra added 16 on 7-of-11, and together they carried Corona del Mar past Huntington Beach, 61-51, in a game the Sea Kings controlled from the opening tip.

The first quarter set the tone. CdM outscored the Oilers by 10 in the opening period, with Scott knocking down a pair of threes and Luke Mirhashemi chipping in five quick points. Nakra was sharp too — 4 points, an assist, a steal, and a block in the first eight minutes. Huntington Beach clawed back in the second quarter, outscoring CdM by four to trim the halftime gap, but the Sea Kings still carried a six-point lead into the locker room.

The second half was a steadier grind. CdM pushed the cushion back out in the third, outscoring HB by five behind Nakra’s five-point stretch and Mirhashemi’s four assists in that frame alone. Mirhashemi finished the night with six dimes and 11 points, doing damage without dominating the stat sheet. The fourth quarter was a near-even exchange, but it didn’t matter — the early margin was too much for Huntington Beach to fully close. Ryan Mansouri added six rebounds off the bench and Nolan Scott grabbed six boards as well, giving CdM the glass work to see it through.

Nakra’s 7-of-11 shooting night — the most efficient line on either end of the box score — was the quiet engine behind a ten-point final margin.
