Spicer’s Pick-Six, Guyser’s Touchdowns Fuel Newport Harbor Victory Over Los Alamitos, Score 39-13 (2025)

Newport Harbor extended its winning streak with a commanding 39-13 victory over Los Alamitos in Sunset League play on Wednesday night at Davidson Field. The Sailors jumped out early, leaned on a balanced attack, and sealed the game with a dominant fourth quarter to move to 18-1 on the season.

The Sailors wasted no time getting on the board. Skylie Cid opened the scoring with a 5-yard rushing touchdown midway through the first quarter. Just two minutes later, Ashlyn Spicer made a highlight play, intercepting a pass and returning it for a touchdown to give Harbor an early cushion.

Quarterback Scarlett Guyser took over from there, throwing an 11-yard strike to Blakely Irvine and later finding Ella Woods for a 5-yard touchdown. Guyser also added a successful rushing PAT, sending Harbor into halftime up 26-0.

Los Alamitos tried to rally in the third quarter, connecting on a deep ball for their first touchdown and later returning a punt for another score to cut the deficit. But Newport Harbor quickly slammed the door. Guyser punched in a 5-yard rushing score early in the fourth, then connected with Cid on a short 2-yard touchdown pass. The Sailors capped the night with a defensive stand that forced a safety in the final minutes, finishing off the 39-13 win.

Harbor’s offense was efficient, and the defense was disruptive, forcing turnovers and keeping Los Alamitos under pressure throughout the night.

With the victory, Newport Harbor remains firmly at the top of the Sunset League standings, while Los Alamitos drops to 6-6.

Next up, the Sailors will face rival Huntington Beach on Monday, September 29, at 3:30 p.m. in a pivotal league matchup. Los Alamitos will regroup to play Corona del Mar that same day at 6:00 p.m.
