Stecker Shines as Corona del Mar Defense Dominates in Win, Score 21-3 (2025)
Orange – Fred Kelly Stadium (EMHS)
Corona del Mar continued its perfect run through the 2025 season with another disciplined, well-rounded effort, defeating Villa Park 21–3 on the road Friday night. The Sea Kings (8–0) leaned on their defense, efficient quarterback play, and the versatility of senior standout Dorsett Stecker, who accounted for two touchdowns and over 100 yards of total offense.
The opening drive set the tone for CdM. Senior quarterback Brady Annett capped a balanced march with an 11-yard touchdown run to make it 7–0 following Joseph DiBella’s PAT. After Villa Park answered with a 39-yard field goal early in the second quarter, Annett responded through the air, finding Stecker for a short touchdown to extend the lead to 14–3.
Stecker remained the focal point for the Sea Kings, adding a 10-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter to close out the scoring at 21–3. The senior tailback was electric, rushing for 75 yards on 10 carries while also hauling in four passes for 42 yards and a touchdown.
Annett was steady and efficient under center, completing nine of 15 passes for 136 yards and a score while adding another touchdown on the ground. JJ Haley and Garrett James contributed in the passing game, with Haley leading all receivers with 96 yards on four catches, including a 52-yard grab.
CdM’s defense once again proved dominant, holding Villa Park (4–4) without a touchdown. The Sea Kings recorded three sacks, including two by Alexander Nickin and another by Canon Cook, while Tucker Murray grabbed a 47-yard interception return. The unit has now allowed 10 points or fewer in five of its eight games this season.
With the win, Corona del Mar remains unbeaten heading into a pivotal late-season matchup at Tesoro next week. The Sea Kings’ balance on both sides of the ball — coupled with their composure and consistency — continues to make them one of the most complete teams in Southern California.
