Trevor Goldenetz Sparks Oilers’ 13-6 Regular Season Closer Over Gahr (2025)
Cerritos – Gladiators Field (GHS)
Trevor Goldenetz stayed hot at the plate, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, as Huntington Beach rolled past Gahr 13-6 on Wednesday afternoon. Goldenetz singled in the second, third, and seventh innings, helping power an Oilers offense that racked up 15 hits in the playoff tune-up.
The Gladiators jumped on the board early with two runs in the bottom of the first. Andres Gonzalez scored on an error, and Taison Miller tagged up to plate the second run on a flyout. Gahr looked poised, but Huntington Beach wasted no time punching back.
The Oilers erupted in the top of the second with a six-run frame that flipped the game. CJ Weinstein sparked the rally with an RBI single that brought Ethan Porter home. Jason Dunham followed with an RBI groundout, and Goldenetz added another run-scoring hit. Jayton Greer was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score another run. Trent Grindlinger drew a walk for a free RBI, and Porter capped it off with a single to center to make it 6-2.
Huntington Beach tacked on a seventh run in the fourth when Weinstein grounded into a double play that scored Grindlinger. In the top of the fifth, Greer added to the lead with a line drive RBI single to center that scored Matt Haidl.
The Gladiators clawed back with four combined runs in the fifth and sixth, highlighted by RBI singles from Miller and Alex Martinez. But the Oilers slammed the door with a five-run seventh. Grindlinger was plunked with the bases loaded, Porter dropped a single to left, Jared Grindlinger beat out a fielder’s choice to score Charlie Henderson, Dane Cunningham lifted a sac fly to right, and Haidl added an RBI single to cap the scoring at 13.
