Tristan Dalzel Shines as Los Alamitos Takes Round 1 Over La Mirada (2025)
Los Alamitos – Griffins Field (LAHS)
Los Alamitos came out on top in a competitive matchup Thursday afternoon, edging out La Mirada 4–2 in a game highlighted by timely hitting and strong pitching. The Griffins struck first in the top of the third inning when Tyler Smith delivered a two-run single to right field, scoring Devin Porch and Kaden Carrion. James Reveles also crossed the plate on the play, giving Los Alamitos an early 3–0 advantage.
The Matadores wasted no time responding. In the bottom half of the inning, Kevin Jeon singled to right to drive in Aaron Sykes, followed by a groundout from Aiden Aguayo that brought home Jacob Celiz to tie things up at 2–2.
But the Griffins regained the lead in the fourth. Nate Walker came through with a clutch single to left, driving in both John Shelley and Logan Wyler to give Los Alamitos a 4–2 lead they wouldn’t relinquish.
From there, the Griffins’ pitching and defense did the rest, locking down La Mirada over the final four frames.
