Post Spring Break Sunset League Rankings and Playoff Predictions with Theo Rokos (April 17, 2025)

Theo Rokos breaks down the Sunset League baseball rankings post–spring break and shares his playoff predictions, team insights, and who to watch as the season heats up.

Sunset League Rankings (0:30)

Theo breaks down the current standings as league play resumes:

  • Huntington Beach leads the pack at 10-0 (17-2 overall), looking like the team to beat—but not untouchable.

  • Newport Harbor sits in second and continues to impress on both sides of the ball.

  • Los Alamitos is close behind in third with a standout pitching staff that makes them a postseason threat.

  • Fountain Valley currently holds fourth, but there’s a tight race for the league’s final guaranteed playoff spot between them, Edison, and Los Al.
  • Edison is in that tough middle ground position where they will continue battling hard for a seat in the playoffs.
  • Corona del Mar follows—still a dangerous team if they close out the season strong.

  • Marina rounds out the standings but remains a well-structured team that could surprise in the playoffs.
Theo emphasizes that every team in the Sunset League is playoff caliber this season.

Playoff Outlook (2:50)

Theo sees Huntington Beach as the frontrunner but says Newport Harbor could make serious noise.

He believes Edison has the potential to go on a deep run depending on seeding.

Los Alamitos is described as a “scary team,” especially in a playoff setting.

Theo praises the league’s pitching depth, calling it among the best you’ll find anywhere.

His current playoff pick order: Huntington Beach, Newport Harbor, Los Alamitos, and Edison.
